March Event: Film Festival
A Transformative Afternoon at SSC’s Eco Film Fest!
SSC president Cheryl welcomes viewers to the Eco Film Fest
On March 15, 2025, the Sustainable Sharon Coalition (SSC) hosted an inspiring Eco Film Fest, bringing our community together to explore pressing environmental issues through the power of film. Featuring thought-provoking documentaries from Bullfrog Communities, the event fostered meaningful discussions about sustainability, interconnectedness, and the small yet powerful actions we can all take to protect our planet.
Powerful Messages That Resonate
The films offered profound insights into the ways our choices shape the world around us. A few of the key takeaways included:
Every choice we make is an opportunity to connect our world.
A greeting in Unangan (Aleut) is “Hello, my other self.” This practice is a way of engaging with the world around and never forgetting that we are all linked and dependent on one another in the circle of life.
You look at a bird, it sings; a is connection built. And that connection turns into a thread when you revisit this interaction.
Fun Fact about Pollinators: 1 out of 3 bites that we eat, was made by a pollinator (usually a bee).
What are the little day to day decisions you can make to not do harm?
Never underestimate that very small causes may have very large effects.
Even in chaotic environments/societies, there is a non-linear connection between everyone and everything.
To reach kids and get them involved in caring about the world around them: start teaching them about environmental impacts in their own communities. Make it relevant.
“We are all sailing in the same boat.”
