Sustainable Sharon Coalition endeavors to inspire, educate, connect, and catalyze our community to protect the planet. This year, we are pleased to announce the first annual SSC High School Sustainability Achievement Award presented to a Sharon senior who made a significant local, regional, national, or global contribution to creating, promoting, or supporting sustainable living. Due to the strength of the two top applicants we will be awarding two scholarships this year.
The winner of the 2020 SSC High School Sustainability Achievement Award of $250 goes to Sebastian Armstrong for his successful efforts in organizing the September school climate strike and his ongoing commitment to work on behalf of a sustainable future by addressing the climate crisis.
This year, an additional award of $100 will be awarded to Jacob Dubin for his work as a Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) student ambassador to promote and carry out a “plogging” initiative. Plogging is the act of picking up trash while jogging that has been gaining followers worldwide as well as in Sharon.
Congratulations to Sebastian and Jacob, the entire community is a better place because of your efforts.
