The Panelists:

Stephen Estes-Smargiassi, Director of Planning and Sustainability for MWRA. He has agreed to attend our panel discussion on behalf of MWRA and will be prepared to comment and answer questions about the quality and availability of MWRA water.

Ian Cooke, Executive Director of NepRWA. Ian Cooke is the longtime Executive Director of the nonprofit Neponset River Watershed Association, which aims to cleanup and protect the Neponset River, its tributaries and surrounding watershed lands in Sharon and the 13 other communities that make up the Watershed. Ian has helped lead a variety of initiatives in Sharon and neighboring communities to encourage water conservation, reduce water pollution, restore habitats for native fish and wildlife, and help make communities more resilient to climate change. Ian is a member of the MassDEP Water Management Act Advisory Committee, the MassDEP Stormwater Management Update Advisory Committee, and a board member of the Massachusetts Rivers Alliance.

Ira Miller, member of Sharon's finance committee. An active participant in local and state affairs, Ira has served on the Sharon Finance Committee for more than twenty years with service on both the Capital Outlay and Priorities Committees as well as liaison to the Schools, Library, Police, and Select Board. He is also a Board member of both Sharon TV and Friends of the Sharon Council on Aging.

David Hearne, Sharon's water committee. David Hearne has been a member of the Water Management Advisory Committee serving the Town of Sharon for more than fifteen years. Prior to that, he was a member of the Finance Committee for five years and also served on numerous study and design review committees for both the school department and the board of selectmen. He has now lived in Sharon with his family for over twenty years.
