MassDEP Launches Statewide Recycling Education Initiative!

MassDEP is pleased to announce the launch of a new statewide Recycle Smart education initiative which kicked off on Aug 20th at Salem City Hall with Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Commissioner Martin Suuburg, and Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll.  With the tagline, “Do Your Part, Recycle Smart“, this effort focuses on the importance of putting the right materials in the recycling bin and taking care to separate the “problem materials” that cause contamination and drive up the costs of recycling.  

The Recycle Smart initiative is centered around a new webpage, RecycleSmartMA.org which includes a downloadable Smart Recycling Guide featuring the standard recycling materials that are accepted by all Material Recovery Facilities in Massachusetts and a searchable Recyclopedia which enables users to search on hundreds of individual items to learn how to properly manage them.
