MA Not On Track to Meet Emissions Target

“Late last week, the Baker administration quietly released updates to the state’s carbon emissions data. The reason for the strange timing, on a Thursday evening in late August as people rushed to weekend vacations, is clear: the numbers aren’t positive.

The data showed an increase in Massachusetts’ emissions between 2013 and 2015, which is not a good sign as the Commonwealth rapidly approaches its legal requirement to reduce emissions by 25% in 2020. In context with the current policy landscape, the data does not inspire optimism about the state’s ability to meet this requirement…..”
